MATHEMATICS Olympiad certificates were handed out to pupils from grades R to 3 at a special assembly. The teachers were proud of the number of gold and silver awards achieved.
Grade one and grade R pupils for 2014 visited Junior Primary for an orientation day with their parents and guests were entertained by the school choir. Principal Dell Pendock and heads of departments’ Vanitha Sadapal and Kerry Peyper welcomed and informed all new pupils and parents on how best to prepare for ‘big school’.
An exciting tour of the school introduced parents and future pupils to the beautiful, well-resourced amenities offered by the school. Refreshments were served and the children were treated to snacks after a productive morning.
Life skills in grade 3 will focus on plants in the last term. Junior Primary ‘mini-horticulturalists’ eagerly check their bean and pumpkin seeds hoping to see whose plumules (little leaves) appear first. Pupils learn about the radicle (baby root) and how much plants are used and relied on in everyday life, especially for food.
