GRADES R to 7 pupils of South Coast Academy were proud to present their concert ‘A day in South Africa’ last week Thursday and Friday to nearby pre-schools, children from ‘The Place of Restoration’, and then to their parents.
The concert started off with all the primary pupils welcoming the guests with the song ‘Hello Africa’ and a cultural dance delivered by the grades 6 and 7 girls. The programme consisted of a variety of well-known African songs, enthusiastically performed by the pupils and varied from the grade Rs acting out ‘Tula Tula’ and ‘Jan Pierewiet’ and the grade 2 and 3 girls dancing the ‘Pot dance’ to the grade 6 boys playing out ‘Hier kom die bokke’ and a traditional gumboot dance by the grade 7 boys.
A lot of hard work was put into this concert by the teachers and pupils. Well done to everyone for a successful concert and thank you to all parents who took time out to attend.
