PORT Shepstone Senior Primary’s U13 A-team reached a target of 66 runs in 9 overs, to secure a comfortable win against Southcity College in a recent match,. Well done to Brinley de Bruin, who was awarded ‘man of the match’, after a top score of 43 runs.
In another match against Margate Primary, the U13 A-team were once again victorious. With wicket-keeper, Blaine Koopman excelling behind the stumps with eight dismissals, Margate were all out for 47 runs. Well done to Justin van Rooyen who was in top form, smashing 39 runs not out.
The U11 A-team also played against Margate Primary last week. Port Shepstone batted first, scoring 129 runs in their 20 overs. The team, captained by Jarod Horn, managed to restrict Margate to 89 runs, thus winning the game.
Due to the inclement weather, all matches for the past week were cancelled, bringing a close to the cricket season for 2013.
Four pupils, Mlungisi Mabaso, Sibongumusa Mbhele, Tebogo Nkhawula and Nsiki Makanya, took part in the KZN Athletic Championships held at Kings Park Stadium last Saturday. Congratulations to Nsiki Makanya who was chosen to represent KZN in the Provincial championships scheduled to take place in Potchefstroom on November 23.
The grade 4 pupils listened to an interesting talk last Friday on water as an important natural resource. The talk was presented by Phillip Christiansen, Bill Davis and Vasi Manawer from the Department of Health, Ugu District. Pupils were reminded of the need to conserve water.
