Biker toy run gets massive support

If Southcity’s efforts are any indication, then this year’s toy run is going to be a huge success.

ONCE again the pupils and staff of Southcity Christian College have contributed heaps of toys to the annual toy run. On Thursday morning, pupils and teachers welcomed members of the local motorcycle fraternity and Ramsgate Lions to the school to hand over toys donated by the pupils.

What an example for us all and a wonderful advertisement for their school. It was quite something to witness the pride reflected in each of those young faces as they gathered around the piles of toys. If their efforts are any indication, then this year’s toy run is going to be a huge success.

The South Coast’s toy run has been held each year for the past eight years. Toy runs are held across the country with bikers in each centre riding together, carrying toys of every description. Events hosted under the ‘Toy Run’ banner are regulated by the Toy Run Association and all proceeds go to charity. Toys donated by the bikers are distributed by Lions to needy children on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.

This year, the toy run will start on Sunday, December 1, from the Southcoast Mall at 9.30am, when the motorcyclists leave on a mass ride through Margate to the Ramsgate Community Centre. Entertainment and catering will be available at the venue. All welcome.
