Mica makes generous gesture
Project Feed the Children supplies 4 800 meals monthly to poor rural children.
AT Mica’s recent annual conference and 30th anniversary, a fund-raising golf day was held at the Wild Coast Sun to raise funds for charity.
Following a proposal from Alan and Jenny Laubscher from Sunray Mica, Sunwich Port, that the beneficary would be Project Feed the Children a cheque to the value of R100 000 was presented to Lawrence and Jenny Smith on behalf of the charity at the gala dinner.
Presently Project Feed the Children supplies 4 800 meals monthly to primarily poor rural children together with 31 widows from the Mshiwa community who have been selected to look after Aids and political violence orphans.
Last month 11 of these new ‘families’ were registered for social welfare grants, which has enabled Project Feed the Children to form and support new beneficiary ‘families”. The focus is also strongly on health, education and grow-projects to uplift the community. Pastor Joseph Ndovela is the driving force within the communities and is the visionary and initiator of many outstanding projects.
