‘Drunk’ cop smashes into cars

A WARRANT officer stationed at Ezinqoleni SAPS is under investigation for allegedly going on a wild smashing spree in a state vehicle, while possibly under the influence of alcohol, on Tuesday this week.

“The officer was on his way home to Gamalakhe at around 8.30pm when the incident occurred,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka. “He was on the P482 in Mtini, Gamalakhe when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into three other vehicles.”

The officer, who cannot be named at this stage, was arrested. The drivers of the three other vehicles involved sustained minor injuries. Police are investigating.
