Seasick German fisherman ‘rescued’

It was a busy weekend for the Shelly Beach NSRI.

A GERMAN tourist (20) aboard a charter fishing boat was taken to shore by NSRI Shelly Beach crew after suffering from severe motion sickness off Shelly Beach last Sunday.

The man’s father was also taken off the boat. Both were brought safely to shore. Once there, the young man did not require any further assistance.

The charter boat crew had offered to take the men to shore, but the NSRI crew was willing to do so, thus allowing the remaining passengers to continue fishing.

The day before, the Caltex Challenger II was launched to assist two men from Pretoria who were experiencing mechanical problems with their jet ski beyond the backline.

One of the men was brought to shore aboard the NRSI boat, while the other, with the help of the NSRI skipper, managed to get his jet ski functional again, and brought it to shore on his own.
