Flight service takes off

One lucky passenger was in for a surprise.

A WHOPPING 2 000 passengers have flown on Margate’s new airline service, CemAir, since its launch in November last year.

The new scheduled flight service has literally taken-off, with flights operating directly between OR Tambo International Airport and Margate Airport.

When Stefan Fourie stepped off the 19-seater aircraft, he was amused, and pleased, to hear that he was passenger number 2000.

The businessman, who lives in Johannesburg but travels to Margate regularly for business meetings, was warmly welcomed by CemAir’s head of scheduled services, Nicolene Myburgh, pilot Corne Buitendag, Ugu South Coast Tourism’s marketing manager, Nikki Tilley, and certain media.

The flight, direct from Johannesburg to Margate, took about an hour and a half. “It was really nice. I will definitely use CemAir again,” he said.

Ms Myburgh gave Mr Fourie two free return tickets, compliments of CemAir, and a weekend for two at the Peermont Mondazur Hotel at San Lameer. He was also given a goodie bag by Ms Tilley.

“CemAir has exploded like a volcano, and we have had double flights booked daily,” said Ms Myburgh.

Daily in-season flights ended on Monday this week. Out of season flights will only now operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
