52 straws of heroin, 1 000kg of dagga seized in Sheppie

Police are cracking down on dealers in an effort to halt drug-related crime.

TO stop violent crimes being committed by those who use drugs, Port Shepstone SAPS officers have focused their efforts on arresting  drug offenders.

Three men were arrested yesterday (Monday) at the Port Shepstone taxi rank and in the CBD with drugs in their possession.

“A 24-year-old man was found with 50 straws of heroin and five Mandrax tablets, plus 12 half tablets, at the taxi rank,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

Another man, aged 62, was arrested for being in possession of dagga weighing 1 166kg, while a third man, aged 29, was arrested in the CBD with two straws of heroin and half a tablet of Mandrax.

All three men were arrested by Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling, Constable Mzakhwe Makanana, Cst Lee Frost and Cst Raphael Smithwick.

The men are due to appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court today (Tuesday).
