Caught red-handed with stolen beer

Six people were arrested in the beer bust, including two security guards.

POLICE nabbed six people last night for stealing 50 crates of beer from a business premises in Marburg.

The beer was stolen earlier that evening and a man, three women and two security guards were taken into custody.

They face charges of burglary at a business premises. Their vehicle was impounded.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said the arrests came after Sergeant Dawie Malan from Gamalakhe police received a tip-off which he sent through to Port Shepstone police.

In a separate incident, Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling and his team located a red VW Golf that was apparently hijacked in Daveyton, Gauteng last month.

“The vehicle was found in the Mkholombe area and was taken to the police pound,” said Lt-Col Wiid. Investigations are continuing.
