THE men who robbed a 61-year-old woman at her house in Oslo Beach on Monday, July 28 are behind bars.
According to police reports, the woman arrived at her home in Commercial Road, where she was approached by three men. “It is alleged that the men were waiting for her to return,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
“They grabbed her and took her handbag, which contained a firearm, a cellphone, keys and other items. The woman screamed, a neighbour arrived, and the men fled,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
Shortly afterwards, one of the men, Lorgnathan Pillay (31) was arrested by a security guard. His vehicle was impounded.
On August 1, Captain Sam Nyawose and other officers arrested Musa Ngcobo (27) and Duduzile Ngcobo (56) in Bhobhoyi.
Ngcobo was found in possession of the stolen firearm. She was charged with possession of an unlicenced firearm and appeared in court. The case was postponed to September 5.
“Police also arrested Dirk van Niekerk (42) in connection with the case. Pillay, Musa, Ngcobo and Van Niekerk appeared in court and the case was postponed for further investigation,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
