Murder suspect flees to Shelly Beach

The man is believed to have attempted suicide.

A MAN who allegedly stabbed his wife 50 times in Bryanston, Johannesburg was a former South Coast resident. The  dead woman has been identified as Shareen Pillay (41), also believed to have been from the coast.

It is believed that the man drove to the South Coast and told a friend about the ordeal. He handed over a cellphone and changed his clothing in Shelly Beach last Sunday.

The friend handed the cellphone over to the police.

Provincial communication spokesman in Gauteng, Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng, said Randburg police arrested the man (42) in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday this week .

“Mrs Pillay was found with multiple stab wounds on Saturday, by a passer-by who alerted paramedics. She died en route to hospital,” said Capt Mofokeng.

Police discovered that the man had tried to commit suicide. He was taken to hospital and was placed under police guard.

He is due to appear at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon, on charges of murder.
