IN the early hours of Tuesday this week, four armed men broke into the Emmanual Trading store in Gamalakhe. Police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka said the men entered the shop while the two Somalian shopkeepers, Hassan Mohammed (21) and Abdulterim Mohammed (21), were asleep.
“Both men were stabbed before the perpetrators fled with an undisclosed sum of cash, cellphones and groceries,” said Capt Mfeka. “Later that day, Gamalakhe Crime Prevention officers, Sergeant Ebrahim Yacoob, Sgt Dawie Malan and Constable Nonhlanhla Mngoma were tasked to do stop and search in Gamalakhe.
“The officers arrested two men for being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Further investigation revealed that the two men, Xolani Fikem (24) and Russel ‘Razo’ Sikhosana (34) were linked to two other robberies in Gamalakhe,” said Capt Mfeka.
Both men appeared in the Ramsgate court yesterday (Wednesday) where the case was postponed to August 27. They remain in custody.
