A FAMILY quarrel led to a Port Shepstone police constable shooting three people, killing her husband and mother-in-law and wounding an elderly woman in the upper arm.
The incident took place in Mbotsha Ward, Boboyi near Port Shepstone yesterday morning
Police spokesman, Captain Vincent Pandarum said the constable handed herself over to the Port Shepstone police shortly after the incident. She faces two counts of murder and one of attempted murder.
The constable is stationed in Port Shepstone and is in her early 30s. It is thought she was arguing with her husband and his family when she fired the shots with her service pistol.
“Family members rushed the policewoman’s husband and mother-in-law to the Murchison Hospital by private transport. Both subsequently succumbed to their wounds and died,” he said.
Capt Pandarum said the constable was taken to hospital for medical attention to injuries she allegedly sustained during the argument.
