Teen (13) raped by stepfather

The perpetrator had already served a 10-year sentence for the same crime.

A MAN(42) who was found guilty of raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter was handed a 20-year jail sentence in the Izingolweni Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday.

On the morning of February 11 this year, the teen’s mother had left for work when the man called his stepdaughter to his bed, saying he was cold and she should warm him up. He instructed her to remove her underwear and then raped her.

The girl went to school as usual and reported the rape to her mother that afternoon.

It was later established that this was not the first time the man had raped his stepdaughter.  The teen’s mother had confronted the man previously, but he had denied the accusation.

The man has a previous rape conviction, dating back to 2004, for which he received a 10-year sentence.

Constable Nkosiyewe Ntini of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Margate  investigated the case.
