A MAN was shot in the arm when four men robbed a shop in Murchison last Friday afternoon.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said the robbers entered the store and pointed firearms at the shopkeeper and a woman who was in the shop at the time.
“The shopkeeper was forced to lie on the ground and a shot was fired,” she said.
The robbers fled with airtime vouchers and cash. The injured man was taken to hospital.
In a separate case, community members in Murchison confronted Mthobisi Ndlovu (24) who was suspected of stealing a woman’s cellphone from her house last Wednesday.
Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling from POP Port Shepstone and his team arrested the man and handed the cellphone back to the lawful owner.
The man was charged with theft and appeared in court last Thursday. He will appear again on September 25.
