Cops clamp down on illegal liquor

Nine crates containing various types of liquor were seized from a woman in Bhobhoyi.

A WOMAN in Mkholombe, near Bhobhoyi was arrested last Wednesday for being in possession of nine crates containing various types of liquor.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said the woman (50) was charged with dealing in liquor without a licence. “She paid an admission of guilt fine and the liquor was confiscated,” she said.

Officers also arrested a teenager (17) in Amandawe,  Scottburgh who was wanted for a rape case which is being investigated by the Umzinto FCS Unit.

The teenager and a friend are suspected of  both raping a 14-year-old girl in Malangeni, Umzinto on August 30.

The teenager was charged with rape. He was later released into the care of his parents and will appear in court soon. Police are still looking for the second susect.
