School pupil arrested for murder

A Gamalakhe pupil accused of stabbing another pupil to death has been arrested.

A SCHOOL pupil, aged 16, has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of another pupil in Gamalakhe on Tuesday this week.

According to police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka, the teenager, believed to be from Olwandle High, was walking with a girl along Michael Msimbi Road, near the swimming pool, when they were confronted by a group of boys.

“The pupil was allegedly pushed around and told to leave the girl. He drew a knife and stabbed a 17-year-old in the chest and another boy in the elbow. The rest of the boys from the group fled. It is believed that the group of boys are from another high school in Gamalakhe,” said Captain Mfeka.

He said the 17-year-old died at the scene. The other boy was taken to Gamalakhe clinic for treatment.

“The 16-year-old was arrested and appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court. The case was postponed and the pupil was released into the care of his parents,” said Capt Mfeka.
