VUSI Paulos Ncibi (31) from Nzimakwe, Port Edward was recently handed a 20 year sentence in the Port Shepstone Regional Court for the kidnapping and rape of a 16-year-old girl.
Magistrate Nonesi Dlamini also declared Ncibi unfit to possess a firearm. Both counts were taken as one for the purpose of sentencing.
Ncibi, a neighbour, kidnapped the teenager from her home in August 2011, and held her captive for some five hours in his house, where he raped her.
The girl managed to escape, and then reported what had happened to her brother, who confronted Ncibi, who in turn assaulted her brother.
The successful conviction was due to the team effort by officer Mfanafuthi ‘Pro’ Ngubane and the team from the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS), Margate with the assistance of the police.
