A JUVENILE (16) was arrested after he stabbed a man in the head, arm and leg at a Ramsgate residence at about 1am this morning.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid,said that it is alleged that some juveniles opened a garage door by force at a premises just off the main road through Ramsgate.
“A gardener who was sleeping in an outbuilding woke up and heard the noise. He grabbed a panga on his way out, and then saw the intruders running away,” she said.
Lt-Col Wiid said the gardener managed to grab one of the juveniles, who started to wrestle with him.
“He managed to overpower the gardener who lost the panga in the process,” she said.
Lt-Col Wiid said it is further alleged that the teen then took out his own knife and stabbed the gardener on the head, arm and leg.
Fortunately, a guard from a security company who was passing by, saw what was happening and ran to assist the gardener.
The juvenile was arrested, and has been charged with housebreaking and assault.
He appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court this morning (Thursday).
The case is being investigated by the Margate detectives.
