HCM will not intervene
The state of Mbango River is still a huge concern.

THE Hibiscus Coast Municipality council has decided not to intervene in the deteriorating state of the Mbango River.
The Democratic Alliance requested that HCM council intervenes in the bad state of the Mbango River at a council meeting held at the chambers last week.
DA councillor Doug Rawlins requested that HCM councillors who serve in the Ugu council, should demand an immediate cessation of sewage dumping into the Mbango River and status reports on all the sewerage waste water treatment works under Ugu control within HCM.
Cllr Rawlins suggested that provision be made in all budgetary processes to ensure enough funding to prevent future contamination of rivers and streams.
“We are concerned about the health and safety of our citizens as well as the impact this will have on tourism and beaches with Blue Flag status,” said Cllr Rawlins.
However, the HCM council asked not to get involved because the DA has already opened a case against Ugu municipal manager, DD Naidoo.
