FIVE armed men who hijacked a vehicle, and managed to overturn it, are still on the run.
The hijackers held up the driver of the vehicle near Oribi toll plaza, Port Shepstone last Friday at about 7pm.
Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, police spokesman, said the driver alleges that he had stopped on the side of the road, not far from the toll gate to get fresh air when the five men confronted him.
“They drove off in a northerly direction on the freeway but just before the Umtentweni off-ramp, overturned the vehicle,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
The hijackers fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.
“When K9 unit members responded they found a dead goat as well as a knife, presumably belonging to the hijackers, in the wreckage but after searching the area were unable to track down the men,” she said.
Lt-Col Wiid confirmed that a case of car-jacking is being investigated.
