Port Edward woman and grandchildren murdered
The grandmother and her grandsons had been stabbed multiple times.
PORT Edward police are investigating a murder case after a woman and her two grandsons were found dead in their flat in Demezulu ward, Port Edward on Monday this week.
“The body of the 60-year-old woman and her two grandchildren (5) and (6) were found by an 18-year-old boy at about 6am,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
“The teenager, who lives in a flat next door, was on his way to school when he discovered the bodies of the woman and her two grandchildren lying on the floor. They had sustained stab wounds to their chests and necks,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
The teenager alerted neighbours who called the police.
Later the same day police arrested two men aged 19 and 24 in connection with the murder. They will be charged for the murders and will appear in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s court today (Thursday).
Port Edward detectives recovered a DVD player and five speakers which were taken from the deceased’s house. Investigations are continuing.
