Bail denied in Port Edward murder

The grandmother and her grandsons were found lying in a pool of blood.

THE two men arrested for the murder of a woman and her two grandchildren in their flat in Demezulu ward, Port Edward appeared in the Ramsgate court last Thursday.

Phakamani Ngilande (24) and Sakhumuzi Nqoko (18) were charged with the murders. The case was postponed to November 17 and both men remain in custody.

The body of Ntombizodina Winnie Ngilande (60) and her two grandchildren Nimrod Ngilande (6) and Morgan Ngilande (7) were found by an 18-year-old boy at about 6am last Monday.

The teenager, who lives in a flat next door was on his way to school when he discovered the bodies of the woman and her two grandsons lying in a pool of blood. They had received stabs wounds to their necks and chests.

The teenager alerted neighbours who called the police.

Later the same day police arrested Phakamani Ngilande and Sakhumuzi Nqoko. Various items stolen from the flat were recovered by Port Edward detectives.
