INPUT from the community led police to a stash of dagga at the Port Shepstone taxi rank last Friday.
“After receiving information relating to drugs, off-duty Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling, assisted by Sergeant Joseph Cele from Port Shepstone K9 unit, went to the taxi rank and searched through a rubbish bin,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
“At the bottom of the bin they found a plastic bag containing 93 parcels (slopes) of dagga hidden by a dealer,” she said.
Police also arrested three men at the taxi rank on Tuesday this week. Officers from the Public Order Policing Unit under the command of W/O Gosling, arrested the men and found a total of 138 parcels of dagga with a total weight of 373 grams in their possession. The men appeared in the Port Shepstone court yesterday (Wednesday) for possession of dagga.
In their efforts control drugs, cluster commander of Port Shepstone, Major General Thembi Ndlovu said that the police hope that members of the public continue to help by coming forward with information.
