AN Umlazi policeman (31), and his brother were arrested at Hibberdene last Wednesday in connection with the murder of a 28-year-old man last Monday.
“It is alleged that Nkosinathi Emmanuel Xaba from Mtwalume was assaulted because it was claimed he was breaking into a house in the Hibberdene area,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
The wounded man was taken to the clinic where he received stitches to his head, but later died.
The policeman and his brother were arrested last Wednesday. Hibberdene detectives arrested two more men on Monday this week in connection with the murder.
The Umlazi officer and his brother appeared in the Hibberdene court last Thursday and were released on R1 000 bail each. The two other men remain in custody. The case was postponed to December 8. Hibberdene detectives are investigating a murder docket.
