Plans in place for festive season

Six teams will be on call during the festive season.

THE seasonal plans for repairs to, and maintenance of street lights, traffic lights, Christmas decorations and high masts are all set for the festive season.

The plans were presented to the Hibiscus Coast Municipality executive committee at a meeting held at the HCM chambers on Tuesday.

The head of department for Human Settlements and Infrastructure, Richard Dlamini, said the aim is to present a plan to ensure that tourists experience reliable electricity supply within the Hibiscus Coast municipal areas during the peak seasonal period.

The areas of focus are the beaches, CBDs, national roads and rural areas; and the areas between Hibberdene and Port Edward.

Seasonal plans for the electrical section will cover the peak season period from December 1 this year to January 12, 2015. And teams will be divided to concentrate on the different areas.

The electricians will respond to community reports, job cards and customer complaints about faulty street lights, beach lights, high mast lights, traffic lights, Christmas decorations, power supply breakdowns and network emergencies.

Christmas decorations will be put up for the peak season period along main roads and routes in Umtentweni, Gamalakhe, Marburg, Port Shepstone, Margate, Hibberdene, Uvongo, Margate and Port Edward.

Six teams will work during the seasonal period with each electrician responsible for a certain area.

The municipality has assured that it will also concentrate more on addressing pothole repairs and patching, installation of traffic signs, direction signs, street names and road markings.
