No mercy for speedsters

Huge fines were imposed on the two drivers.

THE Scottburgh Magistrates’ Court is once again showing little mercy to motorists who the N2 as their personal racetrack.

On Tuesday, November 25, Magistrate Bachuram handed down two huge fines, sending a strong message. The motorists, one caught driving at  184km/h and the other at 189km/h were each fined R40 000 for their transgressions.

Another motorist appeared in court on Monday morning and is out on R1 000 bail. It is alleged that he was clocked travelling 211km/h on Saturday evening.

He failed to stop when RTI officers flagged him down and police had to chase him down. He was also allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
