SOME 200 straws of heroin were found hidden underneath a mattress at a house in Marburg last Friday.
Dale Kistna (25) and Raisa Paraze (37) were arrested. Both appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Mr Kistna was refused bail and remains in custody while Ms Paraze was released on R5 000 bail. The case was postponed to April 6.
In another drug related incident police arrested three women who boarded a taxi in Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape last Friday. Sergeant Rudi Smit, Constable Sibusiso Cele, and Cst Thabane Mofokeng from the K9 unit Port Shepstone, were doing stop and search duties near the Oribi toll plaza in Port Shepstone, when they searched a minibus taxi.
“The vehicle was en route from Lusikisiki to Durban. Three women who were sitting at the back were found to be in possession of dagga, with a total weight of almost 15kg,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
They were arrested and charged with being in possession of dagga. The street value of the dagga is estimated to be about R21 150. Zoleica Mabena (44), Nomzekelo Ncibe (53) and Nozibele Gobinca (56) appeared in court on Monday and were denied bail. The case was postponed to December 9.
Police also arrested a 25-year-old man at the Port Shepstone taxi rank last Friday with 23 straws of heroin and a woman (55) with 21 straws of heroin. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be about R1 540.
Raylan Jageesar (25) and Nokundla Florence Cele appeared in court and were released on bail. Their case was postponed to April 6.
