A GOAT which had acid thrown on its head by an angry woman in Gwalagwala, Umzumbe today had to be euthanased by the SPCA.
It is believed that the woman was upset that the goat had wandered into her garden.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said that Southport police were shocked to see the condition the animal was in when they arrived at the scene.
The goat was collected by SPCA Inspector Lucky Jali.
“Due to the severity of the burns, the animal had to be put down,” said Tsara Tickton, operations manager at the LSC SPCA.
Lt-Col Wiid said a case of cruelty to animals had been opened at the Southport police station.
No arrests have yet been made.
