A SENIOR Hibiscus Coast Law Enforcement officer shot and killed his wife in KwaNzimakwe, near Port Edward last Saturday before turning the gun on himself.
The traffic officer is in a critical condition in a Durban hospital.
According to reports, Thokozani Malloy (35) of Nkulu ward, arrived home last Saturday evening and asked his three children if they knew the whereabouts of their mother, Nontokozo.
“He then took his eldest son (19), to his mother-in-law’s house which is nearby,” said police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka.
“When the woman opened the door, Officer Malloy entered the house and an argument started.
“After a few minutes Nontokozo ran out of the house. Officer Malloy followed her and fired two shots, killing her instantly,” said Captain Mfeka.
“The reason for the shooting is unknown at this stage,” said Capt Mfeka.
Officer Malloy was taken to Netcare Margate Hospital and later transferred to a Durban hospital.
Officer Malloy started working for the municipality in July 1996 under Mpenjati TLC.
The couple has three children, a boy (19), a girl (13) and a four-year old boy.
On Monday this week the Herald established that Nontokozo was the sister to ANC chief whip, Wandile Mkhize who was shot and killed outside his flat in Manaba on June 30.
