Guard found with unlicenced gun

An investigation is under way.

A SECURITY guard will appear in court soon on charges relating to being in possession of an unlicenced firearm.

Last Wednesday, Constable Travis Dickens, Cst Mzwakhe Makana and Cst Linda Shazi from Port Shepstone, received information about the security guard, who was in possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.

“They went to a butchery in the CBD and arrested the guard. A Norinco pistol, a magazine and some live rounds were confiscated,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

An investigation as to why he had been issued with these items is being undertaken by Port Shepstone detectives.
