Tip-off leads to drug bust in Hibberdene

Police chased down the drug peddlers on foot.

THREE men spent the Christmas weekend in police cells in Hibberdene after being caught in possession of drugs on Christmas Day.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said that eight straws of heroin, two Mandrax tablets, a plastic bag containing dagga and  a large sum of money were confiscated.

Sergeant Rudi Smit, Constable Sibusiso Cele and Constable Zonwabele Mpofana from Port Shepstone 10111 call centre received information and proceeded to the taxi rank in Hibberdene.

Lt-Col Wiid said that when the three men spotted the police, they bolted for the beach.

Assisted by Gladiator Security officers, the policemen gave chase on foot and the three were arrested on the beach.

They appeared in Hibberdene Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
