A MAN was arrested on the toll road near Umtentweni last Wednesday for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said Warrant Officer Gerhard Prinsloo from Port Shepstone SAPS noticed a red VW Polo passing on the toll road.
“The car did not have a registration plate at the back. W/O Prinsloo requested back-up and managed to stop the the vehicle,” she said.
Police from the vehicle investigation unit assisted. After verifying the identification numbers it was discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen in Pinetown in August 2013.
The 34-year-old driver was arrested, charged with being in possession of stolen property and appeared in court on Monday.
Meanwhile detectives will also continue with the theft of a motor vehicle case in Pinetown.
