Update: Kidnapped baby sold for R1 000

Investigations led police to Durban and then back to Umzimkhulu, where they found the child.

THE three-month-old baby girl who was kidnapped from her mother’s house in Msinsini near Hibberdene on earlier this month has been found and is now safely back with her mother.

Last Thursday, Sergeant Shaun Pillay from FCS Port Shepstone police, together with detectives from Msinsini, arrested Mbhasobhi Dlamini (39) in the Msinisini area.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said that investigations led them to Durban and then back to Umzimkhulu, where they found the child.

“Dlamini had apparently sold the child for R1 000,” she said.

Lt-Col Wiid said that Dlamini was charged with kidnapping and appeared in court on Monday this week. The case has been postponed to Thursday for bail application.

Lt-Col Wiid said that police are still looking for a second suspect suspect.
