SATURDAY, January 10, was the third time intruders have entered the property of the District 49 Place of Safety and made away with the power cables. The devastated children are without electricity once again.
It was around 4.30am when one of the caregivers, Maria Scubane, saw two youngsters, one standing guard on the ground while the other was cutting the cables. They were armed with spades, side cutters and climbing shoes.
“I started screaming when I saw them stealing our cables for the third time,” said Maria. The thieves fled the scene with the cables.
The incident has been reported to the police, who will investigate. The stripped cables were found on the golf course in Umkomaas.
