Shop owner surprises thief

The businessman decided to sleep in the shop in order to catch the burglars.

A RETAIL shop owner in Port Shepstone caught a brazen burglar in his store in Reynolds Street last week.

“According to the owner of a clothing shop, his business premises had been broken into before,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

“The owner decided to sleep in the shop in order to catch the burglars. On Wednesday his shop was again broken into and he managed to apprehend one of the perpetrators in the shop while the other fled,” said Lt-Col Wiid.

Constable Senzo Nzama, from the Port Shepstone K9 unit, together with Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling responded and both suspects were soon arrested.

Police suspect that the men are also involved in other break-ins in the area. They are due to appear in court soon.
