WOODGRANGE Primary pupils had a fabulous year-end surprise when gr 4 pupils and all those who excelled in exams were treated to a six-day holiday at the The Mercury Hibberdene Children’s Holiday Home. Camp ‘A’ (gr 4 pupils) went the week immediately after school closed and camp ‘B’ (high academic achievers) over the Christmas week.
Charmaine Barnwell and her enthusiastic team treated everyone like royalty and ‘Lizard’ and his team of trainers compiled fascinating leadership programmes for both camps. Activities included team building exercises, talent contests, movies, beach walks, jumping castles, fashion shows amongst others, but pupils particularly enjoyed the massive swimming pool. They were also treated to three scrumptious meals per day and delicious snacks were served throughout the day.
Heartfelt thanks to Charmaine, Lizard and the entire team for giving Woodgrange pupils an unforgettable ‘life experience’. Thanks also to teacher chaperones Mthokozisi Myende, Ansua Moodley, Nokzola Mjweni, Nadia Singh and Makhosozana Gumede. The management of The Mercury Hibberdene Children’s Holiday Home, trustees and all sponsors and donors are saluted for the amazing work done as a service to the less fortunate.
