Blackouts are back – Eskom

The national grid came under pressure yesterday after one of Koeberg’s units was taken out of service due to a technical fault.

BRACE yourselves – Eskom has announced that stage 1 rolling blackouts will be implemented from 10am to 10pm today.

Stage 1 allows for up to 1000 MW of the national load to be cut, stage 2 for up to 2000 MW, and stage 3 for up to 4000 MW.

Should consumers use power sparingly during this time,  Eskom said the load shedding could  end earlier.
