Ramsgate reservoir remains unsecured

The status of security at the Ramsgate reservoir is worse since the Herald’s article last year.

DEAR Editor,-

On August 15, the Herald published an article ‘DWA to investigate unsecured reservoirs’ and on September 5, you published my letter, entitled ‘Analysing reservoir leaks, locks and lies’.

And guess what …. There has been no change and nothing has happened since then. The Herald’s and my joint efforts for Ugu service delivery are being totally ignored!

The status of security at the Ramsgate reservoir is worse since the Herald’s article last year. The gates are rusted off and fencing is open for anyone to access.

Last year Ugu dug a trench into an adjacent private farm to hide the water overflow and leakage problems, which used to run onto the streets and damage roads. Okay, so they tried, but it is not good enough.

The grass around the reservoir is overgrown and there are many alien invading undesirables. The grass has not been cut for at least six months.

But enough griping from me now. Let’s try and fix the problem and get some decent service delivery for our splendid coastline.

If anyone would like information on the history around this reservoir, I have photos dated four years ago, as well as lots of historical digital correspondence between Ugu, myself and other disgruntled ratepayers in this regard.
