Traffic fine fury for motorist

The Hibiscus Coast Municipality has kept mum regarding the duplicated traffic fine.

A MOTORIST has been left bamboozled by the Hibiscus Coast Municipality’s traffic department.

The motorist received two traffic fines of R100 each in 2013. He decided to wait for a summons and received nothing. Recently he had a look at the fines and noticed that the date and time of the two fines were the same.

“I looked at the reference numbers, but they were different. How can I receive the same fine with two different numbers?” asked the driver.

He came to the South Coast Herald in hope of getting the problem solved. The fines was scanned and questions sent to the municipality’s spokesman, Simon April, four weeks ago.

Two weeks ago, Mr April was contacted and he confirmed receipt of the email. He added that his department was working on a report. To date the Herald has not received any response.

“This is fraud in the hands of the municipality. How many other motorists have been scammed into paying these type of fines that have been duplicated?” asked the motorist.
