NO fewer than 16 incidents were reported in Ramsgate last weekend alone.
A 79-year-old man was attacked and robbed at his home in Fascadale Road last Friday. According to police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka, the elderly man noticed an intruder in the house.
“When the intruder saw the pensioner, he grabbed him and stabbed him in the hand. Another robber appeared and forced the him to the floor.”
The intruders asked the man for firearms and laptops which the man did not have. The robbers fled taking two cellphones, a bag and cash. No arrests have yet been made.
Meanwhile, the Ramsgate Community Policing Forum (RCPF) arrested three men after receiving information from a homeowner whose house had been broken into.
The intruders fled when they were disturbed by the homeowner. When RCPF responded it found a flat screen TV at the side of the road.When camera footage was viewed, RCPF members noticed a red vehicle that had sped from the house with one of the intruders in pursuit.
Through the information obtained from the camera and the community, the RCPF members located the vehicle parked at a house in Ramsgate. Three suspects, all matching the description of the men who fled from the house, were arrested.
A search revealed a quantity of items believed to have been stolen recently.
