‘So many questions, so few answers’

I phoned a week ago, but have not received the courtesy of a response.

DEAR Editor,-

I see that Mr Simon M April is the spokesman for traffic fines and the traffic department. After many questions have been asked, it’s not just me, but many others would appreciate a few answers now and then?

1 The AATO rules say all fines must be sent by registered mail, the Road Traffic Act says the same, and the High Court ruled against the appeal lodged by the JMPD last year and all traffic fines so issued were declared null and void. What is going on here?

2 The Road Traffic Act says all, including police, ambulance and fire departments must use seat belts. It also goes on to say that no-one may be given the right not to use them, bar a few for health reasons, and these people must apply for this. Why don’t the Traffic Department wear their seatbelts? Only about 5 percent do and this percentage includes the SAP.

3 Can he tell us what is going on now at the Licensing Department and if there has been any improvement? I did phone and was told I would be responded to. That was a week ago and I am still waiting for that.

4 How many eye-testing kits are there? Five years ago there were two, with big promises to install more. Did this happen?

I think the Traffic Department forget that they are paid out of money that comes from the taxpayers, but I don’t want to overtax Mr April with too much work.
