A MAN was arrested at the Port Shepstone taxi rank this morning for allegedly firing shots.
According to police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid there was an altercation at the taxi rank during which a man claimed to have been hit on the head with a knobkierie.
“Constable Khetho Mqadi from Port Shepstone SAPS on duty was at the taxi rank. He heard shots being fired and then saw a man running.
“Cst Mqadi apprehended the man and when he was searched, he was found to be in possession of a .38 revolver with rounds in the chamber,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
The man was arrested and taken to the police station. Port Shepstone police and Hibiscus Coast Law Enforcement officers are monitoring the situation.
No cases have yet been opened and investigations into the matter are being conducted.
Cluster Commander of Port Shepstone, Major General Thembi Ndlovu and Station commander, Brigadier Agnes Nxamagele were all present at the taxi rank.
