A SUSPECTED house robber who was found in possession of stolen goods yesterday was last night shot in both legs by police as he attempted to escape from custody.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said police had responded to a house robbery in Hibberdene.
“While the Dog Unit was searching for the suspects a man was spotted casually walking down the hill carrying bags,” she said.
The police stopped and searched the man, and upon questioning him it was discovered that he was in possession of stolen property.
He was taken to the Hibberdene charge office from where he managed to escape shortly afterwards.
During the high-drama police chase, the alleged robber was shot in both legs, and rearrested by police.
Lt-Col Wiid confirmed that the thieves involved in yesterday’s house robbery are still at large.
