Sheppie Rangers make raft race finals
Some 25 to 30 rafts were entered in each division of the race.
THE coast’s Rangers, Girl Guides and Scouts excelled at the Highway District 22nd raft race held at Midmar Dam last Sunday.
The annual KwaZulu-Natal event saw the Port Shepstone Rangers come first in their heat, qualify for the final (15 years and over) and place fourth overall.
Guides featured second in their heat, 14 years and younger. The First Margate Scouts came second in their heat. The senior scouts came second in their race – the 2x2x2 race (two people, two tubes, two paddles).
This year, 25 to 30 rafts entered the race in each section 14 and younger, and 15 and older. All groups are already planning to build a better raft to win next year’s race.
