Hibberdene robbery suspect hunted down

A special task team has been set up to trace wanted criminals.

HOMEOWNERS are being hit hard at present, but burglars in Hibberdene aren’t having it all their own way.

In this success story, the SAPS brass has high praise for security companies and community members who are very active in supplying information to a task team established to track down criminals in the area.

The team arrested a man in his 20s in the Mfazazana, near Hibberdene, recently. He was found in possession of various stolen items, including a hi-fi, cds and clothing.

The task team, with detective sergeant Eugene Blankenberg and constables Kavithasen Naidoo, Thulaz Mayeza and Simingaye Mavundla, was established by the cluster commander of Port Shepstone, major general Thembi Ndlovu and her management team. Her aim is to concentrate on tracking down housebreakers, particularly in the hard-hit Hibberdene area.

Mjr-Gen Ndlovu expressed her gratitude to security companies and community members who monitor and share information of suspicious vehicles and individuals in the residential areas. She said it was a powerful tool to combat crime. She urged residents of other areas to take similar initiatives.
