A ‘PUPPY MILL’ run from a home in Owen Ellis Drive in Port Edward has just been discovered by the Lower South Coast SPCA and law enforcement officers.
The sting operation revealed that there are more than 30 dogs on the property, including about 18 puppies.
The dogs appear to be sold for hunting purposes.
The SPCA vet is currently inspecting the animals, which have been kept in pens and inside the house. The Herald reporter at the scene describes the conditions as ‘unhygienic and most disturbing’.
The dogs will be removed once the proper documentation is obtained from the court.
Michael Muller, manager of the LSC SPCA, said charges would certainly be laid.
