A VISITOR from North West Province, who was attending Africa Bike Week in Margate, was raped on Margate beach last Friday night.
It is believed that the woman was sitting on the beach by herself at about 11pm when she was approached by a man.
“According to the woman, the man asked her for R10,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka.
“She told the man that she did not have money on her. He then asked her for her cellphone, to which the woman replied that she had left all her items at the holiday flat where she was staying,” said Captain Mfeka.
The man then produced a firearm, forced the woman to undress and raped her. He fled taking only her biker jacket.
No arrest has yet been made and Margate Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit (FCS) unit is investigating.
