BRAZEN thieves ripped the door off the Port Shepstone Scout and Girl Guide Hall this week.
The hall was broken into last Thursday and thieves made off with about R7 000 worth of items. The criminals managed to get into the hall through the ceiling and bathroom window.
Twenty chairs, two tea sets, toilet systems, stationery, kitchen items and some of the camping equipment that has just been replaced was stolen.
Police managed to recover seven of the stolen chairs, but when Port Shepstone Brownies, Girl Guides and Rangers leader, Jolene Evans, returned to the hall yesterday (Monday) afternoon to return the chairs, she discovered that a side door had been ripped off and a basin had been pulled from the wall, costing the organisation a further R2 000.
Earlier this year, thieves broke into the hall and fled with R4 500 worth of camping and cooking equipment.
Mrs Evans said this was ‘just another horrible blow’ for them after all the hard work the movement has done at the hall since the last break-in.
“I have kept the the hall running for the children,” she added.
They are desperately needing any help and donations, and a security company to donate an alarm system.
